When WWII ended on August 14th, 1945,  (70 years ago ), 4 young men with ties to Lindley had died in service to their country and to our freedom.

PFC. Robert Blackman ----  Army 63rd  Armored Division
Son of Alfred and Vesta (Woodcock) Blackman
Killed in action in Germany March 30th, 1945
Buried in Cooper's Plains Cemetery

PFC. Ivan P. Jones---- U.S.. Army Air Force
Son of John E. and Ruea (Button) Jones
Brother of Gladys (Jones) (Francis) Smith  and other  Lindley siblings
Died in airplane crash Smyrna Army Air Field ,Tenn.
May 2, 1944
Buried in Addison Rural Cemetery
 
PVT. Robert J. Smith ---  Army Infantry
Son of Mr. and  Mrs.  Richard Smith
Husband of Madeline (Kennedy ) Smith
Father of Robert and Suanne Smith
Grandfather of Matthew Smith
Died March 5, 1945 in Germany
Buried in Cooper's Plains Cemetery

1st Lt. Donald L Walch ---  U.S .Army  Air Force  441st.Troop Carrier Group
Son of Vern and Ruth  (Conner) Walch
Brother to Richard (Dick) Walch
Father of Lorena Mae Walch
Died in airplane crash  April 13, 1945 in Germany
Buried in Coopers Plains Cemetery
