Just a reminder to atttend Lindley /Presho Old Home Day on Saturday 9/18/2010


The Committee and State Line Camping have developed some interesting and novel ideas to make this a great day.


This is Lindley's 220 birthday year and 100 years since the 1910 Old Home Days. It's hard to believe all the changes that have occurred-( just look at the hill side on the West side of the river this summer -and the 2 lane bridge last October))))!!! What would the old timers think if they were here.


WETM TV says it will be a gorgeous day weather wise.


So Take time out from Saturday chores to enjoy the festivities , meet old friends and just have a good time.

    Thanks for all the planning everyone did. I enjoyed myself even though I only knew a few people. Couldn't have asked for a more beautiful day. Good to see so many people did come out before I left. Hope everyone had tons of fun. Was interesting to some of the things available. Karen (O'Connell) Mahnke

A former Lindley resident was curious as to the date. Eleazer Lindsley  and Lindsley Coat of Arms (Composite photo made for the Steuben County Hall of Fame) Lindley no longer has a school in the town and this is my way of letting the residents learn about the town where they live .  The following will be excerpts from various histories about the history  of the Town of Lindley. Each historian or person writing the following information has made his own  interpretation of the facts .  Kitty Lt. Colonel Eleazer Lindsley was born December 7th, 1737 in Morristown, New Jersey -the son of Jonathon Lindsley. He died in Lindley, N.Y. June 1,1794. He served as a Lt .Colonel. in Colonel Oliver Spencer's Regiment of New Jersey Continental Troops. He was ,also, a Second Major in the Morris County ,Militia . He married Mary Miller of Morristown N.J. He served in the New Jersey Assembly in 1780; was a Justice of Peace in 1783 and moved to Steuben County, New York in 1790. Brigadier General John Taylor - (2nd Husband of Mary Miller Lindsley)

20 October 2012 – Bath NY Delivered by Timothy F. Taylor, at his great x 4 grandfather’s, Brigadier General John Taylor, memorial service.   Impact of research – formation of team, re-establishment of ties to lost branches of the family. One of the first documents that the team discovered was a note in the Bath Historian’s office detailing some of the History of General John Taylor and his family.   In that note it states that John Taylor started as a private in the Militia.   Although we have not found any of his Militia Records prior to 1775, we have found that on October 28 th of 1775 he was promoted to 2 nd Major of the 4 th Hunterdon Regiment of the New Jersey Militia. Revolutionary War Pension Applications detail some of his unit’s accomplishments, one of which tells of a detail from Major John Taylor’s command that was sent to patrol the Delaware River in December of 1776.   That detail was under the command of Lt.
