Sunday Telegram 6-13-1954 75th Anniversary1879-1954

On June 13,1954, the Sunday Telegram  published a 75 Anniversary Edition of the newspaper.                  It had several sections covering the history of the local New York/ Pennsylvania towns. Included was this photo of Lawrenceville,Penna taken from the hill at the east end of the present bridge (over the Tioga River) that connects Lindley,NY and Lawrenceville,Penna. via Steuben County Rt 116 (River Road).  As can be seen, this was a busy commercial area.Not only was there a RR Depot, stock yards, a Condensery but also,the Harrison House Hotel. (There are some interesting stories about the hotel that I hope to write about in the future.)  Note mention of the Wiliamson Road.  Does this mean the Williamsom Road was on the East side of the Tioga River originally? The Williamson Road  started in Northunberland,Penna in 1792 by Colonel Williamson-(Founder of Bath ,New York.) and has an interesting history.
