On Cemetery Road off County Rt.115  (Formerly US.RT.15)

Looking Back --225 years

In 1990, a group of highly motivated Lindley residents came together and celebrated the first 200 Years of the Town of Lindley’s history with an event called Heritage Days.  It was spread out over 3 days and included all sorts of events and activities. They even published a book called  “ Looking Back 200 Years   Lindley, New York 1790-1990. “

Twenty-five years have passed and many changes in Lindley have happened since then-- including the bussing of all our school children to out of town schools. With this in mind, a group of local residents felt that it was time to have another birthday party and to share some of Lindley’s past with the students, newcomers to Lindley, relatives  , friends and neighbors. So –

Lindleytown Birthday Party – Celebration Looking  Back 225 Years 1790-2015 –will take place on Saturday September 19th, 2015 from noon to 5 P.M. at the Lindley Town Hall and across the road on the Community Church grounds.

(Many of the old histories and letters addressed to the town residents in early days referred to the place as Lindleytown- hence the group adopted the older name to depict the time frame being celebrated.)
Lindley was really the 1st formal settlement in Steuben County.
Although not as many activities as 1990 are planned, there will be a variety of displays, exhibits and activities of interest for all ages. . Elves are busy planning a variety of vintage games and activities to entertain the children.  The historical exhibits and displays will be at the Town Hall where there are already photos of schools, students, buildings and Veterans on display. The local Churches, LP Fire Department members and local residents will have a food booth at the Lindley Community Church with proceeds being donated to the Fire Department. (The only cost for the day!!!.) There will be musical entertainment by the Woodhull Band and other groups.
As the day grows closer, we will share more details.  Sounds like a fun time –Did I mention a birthday cake and ice cream, too???  See you there.  Kitty
