Lindley Schools #9
Over the years, the name of this area has been changed from Clendenning to Glendenning. With the introduction of 911,the name of the road is back to Clendenning-named for early settlers in the Presho area.
I recall reading a letter in the files (to be accurate, I need to reread the letter to find the correspondent's names) but the message was recommending the Clendenning family to the recipient of the letter.
There is a note in the files that former County Legislator Bob Nichols Mother had taught school here.
In the 1990 Lindley History, Pauline (Morse) Abbey described her experiences while attending this school. One of her teachers was Merle Smith. She called it the Clendenny school. Pauline is ,also, quoted in
Ian Mckenzies' History of Schools in the Corning - Painted Post School District.
The school stood in the vicinity of Gibson and Clendenning Road.
