A Brief History of Corning ,N.Y. Northside High School
For Sale in 2014 The last blog posting shows the postcard of a Northside High School. A former Lindley resident was curious as to the date. Using the Internet , he found a copy of the postcard dated 1905. After a discussion about the age of the Northside High School that has been in recent Corning Leader news articles, he located a September 14,1927 article on the Fulton Archival Newspaper website that said the new high school had opened . Corresponding with him about the date and other information regarding the school had piqued my curiosity . Knowing that so many Lindley residents had attended a Corning Northside High School or had a connection with it, I decided to research the history of the schools. The road looked so high up on the hill during construction. It doesn't look that high now, although it sure makes the church look small!
ReplyDeleteI remember as a kid, sitting at Grandma and Grandpa Brant's kitchen table looking towards the church and the grownups were discussing whether there would be an interchange on Toby's flats. (That was in the 1960s.) 50 years or so later - No interchange, but finally the highway!
