West High Band in Philadelphia

The West High Band marched in the St. Patrick's Day Parade in Philadelphia.
The band marched ~2 miles in the rain and did a great job!
The band is also looking forward to particpating in the 2011 New Year's Day Parade in London, England!
They are presently fundraising (like crazy) and hope they will meet their goal.
For our out of town readers keep reading the blog and I will give updates and information on their progress.

    What a feather in the cap for a local high school>>>> Tracy didn't mention that to be selected to participate in this parade is indeed an wonderful honor. And the Band Director is one of West's graduates. How much better than that can it be?????
    The trip is expensive as can be imagined and as Tracy stated ,the band members are working like crazy to raise money for this exceptional experience.
    For those who wish to donate locally -there is a donation jar in the Lindley Town Clerk's office. Several of Lindley's West High graduates have been members of the band. So let's help the band take a trip that they will remember and talk about long into their old age.

A former Lindley resident was curious as to the date. Eleazer Lindsley  and Lindsley Coat of Arms (Composite photo made for the Steuben County Hall of Fame) Lindley no longer has a school in the town and this is my way of letting the residents learn about the town where they live .  The following will be excerpts from various histories about the history  of the Town of Lindley. Each historian or person writing the following information has made his own  interpretation of the facts .  Kitty Lt. Colonel Eleazer Lindsley was born December 7th, 1737 in Morristown, New Jersey -the son of Jonathon Lindsley. He died in Lindley, N.Y. June 1,1794. He served as a Lt .Colonel. in Colonel Oliver Spencer's Regiment of New Jersey Continental Troops. He was ,also, a Second Major in the Morris County ,Militia . He married Mary Miller of Morristown N.J. He served in the New Jersey Assembly in 1780; was a Justice of Peace in 1783 and moved to Steuben County, New York in 1790. Brigadier General John Taylor - (2nd Husband of Mary Miller Lindsley)

20 October 2012 – Bath NY Delivered by Timothy F. Taylor, at his great x 4 grandfather’s, Brigadier General John Taylor, memorial service.   Impact of research – formation of team, re-establishment of ties to lost branches of the family. One of the first documents that the team discovered was a note in the Bath Historian’s office detailing some of the History of General John Taylor and his family.   In that note it states that John Taylor started as a private in the Militia.   Although we have not found any of his Militia Records prior to 1775, we have found that on October 28 th of 1775 he was promoted to 2 nd Major of the 4 th Hunterdon Regiment of the New Jersey Militia. Revolutionary War Pension Applications detail some of his unit’s accomplishments, one of which tells of a detail from Major John Taylor’s command that was sent to patrol the Delaware River in December of 1776.   That detail was under the command of Lt.
