Uri Mulford -Steuben County Hall of Fame
From Leader February 27,2010 under Tony Award Winner article:
" County Hall of Fame inductees this year are Bill T. Jones and Marion Mc Dowell and Uri Mulford of Corning."
Mulford -"The great grandson of the founders of Town of Lindley was born in 1853.He was best known in the county as a newspaperman and publisher,working for The Corning Independent, Bath,New York Courier, Corning Daily Journal and Elmira Advertizer. He published "Pioneer Days and Later Times of Corning and Vicinity."
"The three inductees were selected by the County Hall of Fame Committee in January."
" The induction ceremony is set for May 1st at the Bath Country Club."
Note from Lindley Historian :---
Uri will join his-- Gt grandfather Col. Eleazer Lindsley- Founder of Lindley and
Joshua Mersereau -Revolutionary War Spy (who resided and is buried in Presho) in the Steuben County Hall of Fame.
June of 2010 will mark the 220th anniversary of the founding of Lindley . Uri Mulford's grandparents Dr.Ezekiel Mulford and Nancy (Lindsley) were in the first group of about 40 settlers. Dr. Mulford was the 1st doctor in this area. He and Nancy had 13 children .
Eleazer Perry and Sarah Jane Davis Mulford were Uri's parents.
