Lindley Presho Genealogy and History Blog

Many thanks to Tracy for her diligence in finding and correcting the problem connected with the difficulty in accessing the site. Many changes in Lindley since last time. Will start with Rt.73 Lindley bridge and County Rt116 projects; Then will follow with the rest of the Riffle stories . The old bridge has been removed, west end abutments are in place and the abutment work has moved to the eastside of the river. As a result, starting July 1st, there is a detour for 4 months. When completed-there will be two lane traffic over the bridge. Hard to imagine after all these years of negotiating the one laner!! Due to increased traffic over RT116 during the detour, Co. Rt 116 was repaved, and many new guard rails were erected. We have markings for the middle of the road and white lines on the edges. WOW!! It is a very noticable improvement. The sad part is one of our few tobacco barns (Niles/Snyder) on a curve is being dismantled. A consultant who specializes in barn...

Hi Readers- Apparently there is a problem accessing the Lindleypreshohistoricalsocietyblog as well as several other blogs. Not quite sure exactly what the problem is at this point,but hopefully the experts will resolve the problem quickly. It is not individual computers apparently but something to do with the Internet functions. Keep looking for us. We hope to add more news soon. Kitty P.

A big thank you to the members of the Tioga County ,Pennsylvania Honor Guard for taking time out of their busy Saturday schedules to honor the veterans of the Lindley area . The Honor Guard is composed of members of American Legion Posts from Tioga County ,Pennsylvania. Elmer Huels, a Lindley Veteran of the U.S. Army is a member of the unit. His grandson, Matthew Huels, a high school student, plays Taps for the group. The ceremomy was held at the Lindley-Presho Veterans monument located in front of the Lindley Town Hall on U.S. Rt.15 on Armed Forces Day May 16th,2009 . Under the direction of President Robert Leyfert, the Honor Guard Presented the Colors and Raised the American and POW flags. President Leyfert then placed a wreath honoring the Veterans by the monument. The Ceremonial Riffle Firing was given by the Honor Guard members followed by Echo Taps with Matthew Huels and Bob Broderick as the Buglars.
